U.S. Container Imports Continue To Gain Momentum

May 2024 saw significant growth in U.S. container imports, with a 6.2% increase from April and an 11.9% rise year-on-year, according to Descartes Systems Group’s June Global Shipping Report.

This data highlights the ongoing strength of imports in the first five months of 2024. Compared to May 2023, the twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) import volume increased by 11.9%, reflecting exceptional year-over-year performance. From April 2024, import volumes rose by 6.2% to reach 2,346,382 TEUs, marking the highest monthly total so far this year.
