TN Couple Killed In Shootout With TX Police Following Semi Truck Chase

A Tennessee trucking couple, Edward and Elizabeth Stevenson, were killed in a shootout with Texas police on May 9 after authorities discovered their rig carrying $3 million worth of cocaine.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Drug Unit in Tennessee had been monitoring the couple for some time before the incident. Upon learning that the Stevensons were in Texas, PCSO collaborated with the Donley County Sheriff’s Office to execute a search warrant on their truck.

Meanwhile, the Stevensons' Tennessee home had been raided, revealing a cache of illegal drugs, guns, and body armor.

In Texas, the couple attempted to evade law enforcement in their semi-truck following a traffic stop attempt. Authorities were aware that the couple was armed and had previously threatened to die in a “suicide-by-cop” scenario if confronted.
