In April 2024, the Port of Los Angeles announced its ninth consecutive month of year-on-year growth, handling a total of 770,337 container units. This represents a noteworthy 12% increase compared to the figures from the previous year.
The latest data indicates that employees at the nation’s busiest container port processed nearly 25% more Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in the first four months of 2024, reaching a total of 3,150,841 TEUs.
This volume surpasses the port’s running five-year average by 5%, demonstrating resilience even amidst record volumes during the pandemic.
April 2024 particularly saw a surge in loaded imports, totaling 416,929 TEUs, marking a significant 21% rise from the previous year. Loaded exports also experienced a remarkable increase of 51% compared to the same period, with 133,046 TEUs processed.
