Maersk, PepsiCo Lead Electric Truck Charging Corridor Pilot

Several of the world’s largest shippers and carriers are set to pilot heavy-duty electric vehicle (EV) charging along the first-ever U.S. over-the-road electrified corridor.

The global nonprofit Smart Freight Centre announced the formation of a coalition that includes AIT Worldwide Logistics, DB Schenker, Maersk, Microsoft, and PepsiCo. This group will test long-haul, heavy-duty battery electric vehicle (BEV) operations along the I-10 corridor, spanning from Los Angeles to El Paso, Texas.

Terawatt Infrastructure will provide the charging infrastructure for the pilot, offering software, operations, and maintenance support at six charging hubs along the I-10 corridor.

The goal of the pilot is to test the charging infrastructure and deploy heavy-duty EVs in real-world conditions, with the broader aim of sharing findings with other shippers and carriers to facilitate large-scale electrification.
