Isuzu Invests $30 Million Into Gatik

Isuzu Motors is propelling the advancement of autonomous commercial trucking with an ambitious investment of $30 million in the U.S. tech firm Gatik.

Currently, Gatik's autonomous technology, based in Mountain View, Calif., powers trucks operating on middle-mile routes for prominent clients like Walmart, Tyson Foods, Kroger, Loblaws, Georgia-Pacific, and Pitney-Bowes. These trucks, equipped with safety drivers, represent a transitional phase towards fully autonomous operation.

This partnership aims to revolutionize the industry by mass-producing self-driving trucks, eliminating the need for human drivers or passengers onboard. The collaboration will see the establishment of a dedicated manufacturing plant to bring this vision to fruition.
