CBP Officers Seize Cocaine Concealed In Fuel Tanks

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Otay Mesa Commercial Facility near San Diego, California, seized a significant amount of cocaine during a secondary inspection on May 20th.

The contraband was discovered within a specially crafted compartment hidden inside the fuel tanks of a commercial tractor-trailer. A K-9 unit alerted officers to the possible presence of narcotics during the secondary inspection.

Following the canine alert, a search revealed 160 packages containing cocaine. The total weight of the seized narcotics was 412.26 pounds. The 35-year-old male driver of the truck, who had a valid border crossing card and was entering from Mexico, was detained for further investigation.
