Trucking Company Owner Sentenced for 10-Year Bribery Scheme

A former trucking company owner has been ordered to pay millions in forfeiture and restitution as part of a decade-long bribery scheme. On October 1, 2024, Alexsander Vasiliyevich Barsukov pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He was sentenced to pay $1,378,702 in restitution, $6,754,845 in forfeiture, and a $100 special assessment.

In addition to financial penalties, Barsukov received a three-year probation sentence, which includes six months of home detention.

Barsukov co-owned several trucking companies under the name Salt Lake Trucking Group (SLTG), which contracted with FedEx Ground. Federal investigators found that SLTG bribed FedEx Ground employees in Utah to manipulate internal processes, securing new truck routes in exchange for payments.

Additionally, a FedEx employee allegedly permitted SLTG to submit false information to bolster their business operations.

According to DOT-OIG, SLTG received approximately $108 million from FedEx over the course of ten years. In total, ten individuals have been indicted in connection with this bribery scheme.
