According to data from the USDA over the past 30 days, the top commodities moving in refrigerated transport are potatoes, apples, and dry onion which are all experiencing a significant upswing in the produce freight sector this winter season.

Top 5 commodities:

🥔 Potatoes are primarily originating from Idaho and Colorado, Canada and Wisconsin aren't far behind. Who knew Wisconsin grew potatoes? Story for another day.

🍎 Apples are indisputably coming from Washington, as the state crushes Michigan and New York this winter in production.

🧅 Onions are 3rd on the list this winter as both Washington and Idaho are dominating production.

🍅 Tomatoes are currently in fourth position and are primarily coming from Mexico with Florida ripe in second place.

🥑 Avocados round out the top five with almost all production coming from Mexico.

Finishing off our list is cucumbers, grapes, lettuce, watermelon, celery, peppers, strawberries, pears, sweet potatoes, limes, squash, and broccoli.
