Israeli Ports Remain Open, Backlog Growing 🚢

The backlog of ships at Israeli ports is increasing while most terminals remain operational, even as the military prepares for a potential ground assault in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. Ashdod Port has implemented restrictions on the transportation of hazardous materials, leading to slower transit times.

In its most recent statement posted on its website, the port emphasized that it continues to function normally, even in times of conflict. It affirmed its commitment to providing around-the-clock support to Israel's economy, ensuring that the population does not face shortages.

According to data from ship tracking and maritime analytics provider MarineTraffic, at least three cargo and dry bulk ships destined for Ashdod have halted in nearby waters, while an additional three vessels, including an oil tanker and a container ship, are en route to the port.

MarineTraffic data indicates that around 13 ships, including cargo, container, and dry bulk vessels, are currently anchored within Ashdod Port.
