Cargo Theft Sting Leads To 72 Stolen Vehicles Recovered

A large multi-agency investigation resulted in the recovery of dozens of stolen cars and numerous arrests in New Orleans, as reported by the Louisiana State Police.

Investigators are examining multiple cargo thefts from the Norfolk Southern Rail Yard, where 79 new cars have been stolen since 2022. State police collaborated with Homeland Security, the NOPD, and the Norfolk Southern Police to recover 72 of the stolen vehicles.

Some of the recovered cars were linked to violent crimes in the New Orleans area. Eighteen individuals were arrested in connection with the car thefts. According to state police, 15 of the 18 arrested face federal charges, including "aiding and abetting with multiple conspiracy counts."
