The Pentagon's 38 Loading Docks

In 2000, officials established a 250,000 square-foot Remote Delivery Facility (RDF) as a centralized, secure, and socially-distanced hub for processing the multitude of items delivered to the Pentagon daily. Situated on a former parking lot, the RDF boasts 38 loading docks capable of handling an average of 250 trucks each day.

Upon clearance to enter the facility, vehicles undergo a comprehensive security inspection. Canine teams are deployed to detect explosives, mirrors are utilized to examine the undercarriage, and drivers lacking building passes must pass through metal detectors before opening cargo doors. Unloaded materials undergo X-ray scans and other security checks before being transported through a tunnel to the Pentagon.
