Nearly $20M In Illegal Drugs Seized
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted a massive shipment of illegal drugs on February 4, seizing $19.8 million worth of methamphetamine and $144,500 worth of heroin.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted a massive shipment of illegal drugs on February 4, seizing $19.8 million worth of methamphetamine and $144,500 worth of heroin.
The truck, entering from Mexico, was selected for inspection, which included non-intrusive inspection (NII) technology and canine team screening. During the physical inspection, officers uncovered 26 packages of heroin weighing 7.53 pounds (3.42 kg) and 8,206 packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 2,217.85 pounds (1,006 kg). The drugs were hidden within a shipment of cucumbers and jalapeños.
The narcotics and the tractor trailer were seized by CBP, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has launched a criminal investigation.
