Jack Cooper Transport Announces Closure

Jack Cooper is closing after losing its two key customers, Ford and General Motors.

In a letter to employees, CEO Sarah Amico announced the closure, stating that despite a long history of success, the company was forced to shut down after Ford invoked a 30-day out clause and GM ceased using their services.

Jack Cooper had been in negotiations with GM, but the relationship ultimately ended when GM instructed workers to stop loading cars onto Jack Cooper trucks.

Amico emphasized the company’s legacy, noting its proud history of being Women-Owned, union-operated, and recognized as GM’s “Supplier of the Year” three times. With no viable options left after the losses, Jack Cooper will begin its shutdown, retaining a few staff members to assist in the process.
