DHL has sold its 91-year-old Midwest LTL carrier, Standard Forwarding, to Sakaem Holdings and a newly formed subsidiary, the company announced on Tuesday. The carrier has been rebranded as Standard Forwarding Freight and its leadership team now includes former executives from Jack Cooper and Yellow Corp.
The deal, signed on December 26 and effective January 1, was confirmed by Tim Haitz, Chief Commercial Officer of Standard Forwarding Freight, though he did not disclose the acquisition terms.
Standard Forwarding Freight is an asset-based, regional carrier that offers next-day and second-day shipping across 14 terminals in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The company also acquired a cross-dock facility in Chicago and merged with Sakaem Logistics, a truckload and LTL brokerage owned by Sakaem Holdings.
