US Ports Receive Funding For Cybersecurity Upgrades

On Wednesday, the Biden administration will unveil a series of measures aimed at enhancing the cybersecurity of U.S. ports, crucial entry points for trade, which support 31 million jobs and contribute over $5.4 trillion to the U.S. economy.

President Biden is expected to sign an executive order aimed at bolstering maritime cybersecurity. This order will ensure that all critical port infrastructure, owned and operated, adheres to internationally recognized safety standards and industry regulations.

The directives extend beyond physical port infrastructure to mandate the reporting of maritime cyber attacks to the Coast Guard Cyber Command.
