Generative AI Self-Driving Truck Company Opens Terminal

A self-driving truck technology company has established a new trucking terminal in a Dallas suburb in Texas to bolster its commercial expansion efforts in the United States.

Waabi, headquartered in Toronto, specializes in "generative AI"-powered self-driving truck technology and recently announced a significant step by setting up a base in Texas.

On April 30, Waabi revealed the opening of an eight-acre Autonomous Vehicle (AV) trucking terminal in Lancaster, Texas. Designed specifically for AV trucks, the terminal features several amenities including acres for trailer parking, a 24.7k square-foot office and maintenance shop, high-speed data offload capabilities, a fueling station, truck weighing scales, and a dedicated pre-trip and post-trip inspection area.

This new facility is pivotal for Waabi's continued commercial expansion, especially after establishing freight hauling operations between Houston and Dallas last year in partnership with Uber Freight.

Raquel Urtasun, Founder and CEO of Waabi, emphasized the importance of Texas as a strategic location due to its significance in shipping corridors and existing commercial operations. Urtasun stated, "By establishing our presence here, we are committed to creating more opportunities for autonomous trucking in the region."
