Denver Couple Found Guilty of Air Cargo Fraud Involving DoD

A Denver couple, Michael Aaron Tew (44) and Kimberly Ann Tew (42), have been found guilty of defrauding National Air Cargo, a logistics company supporting the Department of Defense, of a staggering $5 million.

Scheme

Over two years (2018-2020), the Tews, along with a co-conspirator, submitted false invoices for services and items never provided. While a significant portion of the stolen funds were gambled away, the couple also splurged on $2.4 million worth of Bitcoin purchases at Denver ATMs.

Taxes

Additionally, Michael Tew neglected to file federal income tax returns for several years, further compounding his criminal activities. A federal jury in Denver delivered the guilty verdict on February 15, 2024, and sentencing is still to be determined.
