CBP Officers Seize Meth Hidden In Pepper Shipment

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Otay Mesa Cargo Facility in California intercepted a significant amount of methamphetamine hidden within a shipment of peppers and tomatillos.

CBP officers selected a commercial tractor-trailer for further examination, and a keen canine unit alerted them to a specific area within the shipment.

A closer look by a CBP agriculture specialist revealed a hidden box containing a crystal-like substance. Further investigation led to the discovery of a staggering amount – 3,594 packages containing methamphetamine, with a total weight exceeding 3,671 pounds.
