Active Freight Brokerages Continue To Decline In May 📉

Freight brokerage closures continued to pick up pace in April, with a year-over-year decline of 10.8%, slightly steeper than the 10.6% drop in March. This translates to a decrease from 30,406 active brokerages in May 2022 to 27,206 this year.

However, despite the recent closures, the industry remains significantly larger than pre-pandemic levels. Compared to May 2019, there are still 27% more active freight brokerages. While this number is down from the 48% increase seen in May 2023 compared to 2019, it highlights the overall growth the sector has experienced in recent years.
