Active Freight Brokerage Authorities Continue Decline

Active Freight Brokerage Authorities Continue Decline

The freight brokerage industry experienced a 9.2% year-over-year decline in February 2024. The current number of freight brokerages with active MC (Motor Carrier) numbers stands at 27,864, a decrease from 28,055 recorded a month ago.

Despite this decline, the industry still boasts 15% more freight brokerages compared to the peak of the pandemic in February 2021.

Interestingly, when compared to February 2019, during the early stages of the previous freight recession, the industry has seen a remarkable 38% increase in the number of freight brokerages. This growth highlights the dynamic nature of the industry and its ability to adapt and evolve over time.
